The Week that Was

This week has been a relatively mellow one for gaming news with the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) taking place but there’s still some stuff to talk about.

DICE continue to impress us with Battlefield 3 . It seems this game just gets better with every video they put out. The latest one called Fault Line Episode 2 - Good Effect on Target sees a bunch of ground troops going up against a sniper who meets his demise in a totally awesome way.

Oh and we also get news from EA India that the totally rad special edition for Crysis 2 dubbed the Nano Edition will be available in India for a not so rad price of Rs. 8,000. This will include a nano suit backpack, the game encased in a sweet steel cover, an 8 inch figurine and an A4 size art book

The PSN continues to get even more love in the form of a Mortal Kombat demo which thankfully is as violent as you can remember. We tried the game out at a Press preview and loved every bloody last bit. You can read our enthusiastic preview here.

Bethesda has resurrected the Prey franchise from the dead in the form of a sequel that’s being developed by Human Head Studios themselves. Details are scarce at this point but it seems Tommy, the native protagonist from the first game is now taking the fight to the alien home world where he’ll encounter even more alien doors shaped like female private parts (ewww).

Even though the new Dark Knight flick may be a while away, Batman fans can rejoice as Rocksteady Games have announced a release date for Batman: Arkham City . The game will be available in UK (and hopefully India) by the 21st of October 2011, while the US will get the game three days earlier by the 18th.

On the hardware front we have a bit of news on Sony’s Next Generation Portable as well. It seems Kotaku got their hands on two prices – one for the 3G enabled one and the other for the Wi-Fi only one. If their sources are to be believed, the 3G one will set you back by $350 while the Wi-Fi one will cost $250. It also seems digitally distributed games will be available on day one.

And finally MotorStorm Apocalypse , along with some other games have been delayed in Japan due to obvious reasons. If you do live in India and are contemplating picking up the game, you may want to check out our review first.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now. see more
