The Sony Xperia X may be suffering from severe overheating issues

Sony’s upcoming Xperia X may suffer from camera overheating issues. The device features a 23MP f/2.0 that’s capable of recording video at 1080p at either 30fps or 60fps. Reports have now surfaced that overheating issues may be causing the camera to malfunction within minutes. A reviewer, Damir Franc, posted a video on YouTube (it’s since been unlisted) where he proved that the Sony Xperia X’s camera would consistently get jittery after a few minutes of recording. Android Authority tested these claims on their own review unit and discovered a “some functions disabled by temperature rise” error after a few minutes of recording. However, they could continue recording at least another 30 minutes without issues. ![Sony Xperia X temp rise](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Sony-Xperia-X-temp-rise-Kunal-K-Tech2-640.jpg) Our own Sony Xperia X review unit has also had overheating issues and we’ve also seen the “some functions disabled by temperature rise.” The camera never shut itself off though. The Xperia X is powered by a Snapdragon 650 and there aren’t many reports of Snapdragon 650 powered phones overheating. If this is indeed a software issue, the fix should be simple enough. If the overheating is a symptom of some deeper trouble, the future of this phone is certainly looking bleak. If the Xperia X is indeed suffering from rapid overheating, we’re a little worried about the fate of the phone. We’re ye to conclude our review of the device, so please keep an eye on this space for up-to-date information on the fate of the Xperia X.
