YouTube has launched YouTube communities for select creators, a platform to share messages, images, live video, animated GIFs and other multimedia content. This is a measure to allow the most prolific YouTube creators to engage with their fans on YouTube, between uploads. For a few creators, there is now a community tab along with videos, playlists and channels. The features is available to a select few creators right now. The feature is expected to be rolled out to more creators soon, along. New features will continue to be rolled out based on creator and viewer feedback. With this step, Google is essentially handing over the direction YouTube goes in, to the content creators on YouTube. Every time a creator posts on community, the fans, or the subscribers can get an alert. This notification are turned off by default, creators have to opt in for the feature. The posts will appear in the subscription feeds of fans. For YouTube, community is a special feature as it represents the deepest product collaboration done so far. Never before has YouTube involved its most prolific creators so much in the development process of key functions.
