Xiaomi’s Mi Mix has been making waves since it was announced. And why not? It’s a beautiful device. Giving the Mix some serious competition however, is the Meizu Pro 7.
We’ve heard no hard facts about the Meizu Pro 7, but the rumours we’ve heard indicate that the era of the bezel-less smartphone is only just beginning.
Rumours suggest that the phone will feature top-of-the-line hardware, though we’re not sure about the SoC, but it might be a Helios chip. We have heard that the phone will offer two variants of the phone, both with 6GB of RAM but either 64GB or 128GB of storage. The phone also claims to use Meizu’s proprietary charging protocol called mCharge 4.0 that claims to charge the phone from 0-100 percent in 40 minutes.
As fascinating as that sounds, the screen’s the highlight. Meizu has apparently managed to spread a 5.62-inch Super Amoled 2K screen over the entirety of the front of the phone. Even the fingerprint sensor is nestled under the front glass (this could be possible thanks to Qualcomm’s Sense ID ultrasonic reader). This represents a screen-to-body ratio of almost 100 percent.
The Mi Mix manages a ratio of around 84 percent (the iPhone is way behind at a measly 65 percent).
These are just rumours of course, but if true, we’re staring at a new era of bezel-less smartphones.
Details on price and availability are unknown at this time.
