Lava has just announced a 4G feature phone for a price of Rs 3,333. The phone is called the Lava 4G Connect M1 and features a 2.4-inch display.

One has to wonder what place a feature phone has in the world of the smartphone, but if recent reports are to be believed, feature phones are still a big deal in India. In fact, they still make up quite a chunk of the market.

The 4G Connect M1 boasts of a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, a 2.4-inch screen and a VGA camera (640x480). You get a 1,750mAh battery (the iPhone 6s has an 1,800mAh unit). Internal memory is limited to 4GB but you can add expand the storage by 32GB via microSD.

Other features include FM radio, Bluetooth and support for 2G.

The new device will be available offline in retail stores across the country, says Lava in a statement.

Nokia is still making feature phones as well. They recently announced Nokia 216 is the latest entrant from the company. Nokia’s phone is cheaper at Rs 2,495, but offers a smaller battery at 1,050mAh and there are no details on the device’s processor, RAM or even 4G support.

The Nokia 216 is expected in October.
