Nvidia’s Tegra 4 chipsets have given us plenty of reason to get excited, being one of the fastest in the world , and now there’s more good news for those following Nvidia’s journey. The company has been talking about entering the budget segment for a while and it looks like it has delivered as the first Tegra 4i-powered device has now emerged in Europe. French company Wiko has announced the Wiko Wax (strange name, we know), which will be the first in the world to employ Tegra 4i , which was actually announced last MWC. The phone will initially launch in Italy, France, and Germany and the best part is that it will be priced around $275 or 200 euros. In terms of hardware, the Wax is not your typical flagship and to keep the price low, there have been some compromises in specs. It sports a 4.7-inch 720p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The quad-core chipset clocked at 1.7GHz, which should make it fast enough for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, it will ship with. The Wax follows a minimalist aesthetic, which looks to be Wiko’s preferred choice, as seen in its line-up. There’s also 1GB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage with a microSD card slot. On the back is an 8MP camera, with a 5MP front-facing camera. The Tegra 4i has integrated 4G LTE support, which will along with 3G, and Wi-FI will take care of data needs, while Bluetooth and GPS are naturally also present. Obviously, Wiko is not a presence in India, but that doesn’t mean India won’t see a Tegra 4i device in the same vein as the Wax. Xolo partnered with Nvidia for its 7-inch Tegra Note tablet , so there could be other devices in the pipeline as well. We’ll have to wait and see if that pans out.
