Apple has released the iOS 10.2 public beta 2 for anyone to try. Available for all devices that support iOS 10, the beta brings with it a bunch of new emojis and some usability tweaks. If you’re on the beta channel for iOS, you’ll receive the update via directly on your device. You can also opt to install the update via iTunes, but regardless of how you update, make sure you take a backup first. To get onto the beta channel, simply head to Apple’s website here and follow the instructions. The main feature of the update is “new and refreshed emoji” that are fully compliant with the Unicode 9 standard, which includes at least 72 updated emojis. AppleInsider reports that the update includes a widget for the Video app, a “Preserve Camera” setting, 3 new wallpapers for iPhone 7 users (who only received 1 new wallpaper with their device) and a “Press and Hold to Speak” option under Accessibility settings. The “Preserve Camera” setting is useful if you’re in the habit of using a lot of filters and such. An update to the Music app will bring more sorting options for playlists and also, star ratings, which went missing a while ago. Other updates include a “Celebration” effect in Messages, a new headphone icon for to indicate an audio playback device and a bunch of “bug fixes and performance enhancements.”
