Slowly we are moving to an age of electric vehicles (EVs) and Tesla is an important part for the future of EVs. The company’s SUV, Model X, has become a finalist for the upcoming Motor Trend awards for the category of Best SUV. This is quite an achievement as you don’t see an electric car being selected for such an award. According to Motor Trend, the Model X impressed their judges in a lot of ways, however they also lost points due to lack of fold-flat second-row seats and traditional rear doors to permit strapping stuff to the roof.   While it offers some of the most modern tech available for cars, including its Autopilot system, it has received a lot of criticism. For instance, according to the judges of the award, the power front doors and the falcon-wing rear doors are said to be glitchy, occasionally hitting adjacent cars and once peeling off a piece of its own rear quarter-window trim. The mono-post seats rattle and don’t adjust comfortably. The giant windshield, which looks futuristic converts the car into an oven on a sunny day. “Everything that makes it great can be found on the Model S. Everything that’s new for the X is a gimmick or doesn’t work properly 100 percent of the time," said Jonny Lieberman. Another judge said “It’s a Model S wearing a parade float wrapped in a mishmash of ideas that should’ve stayed on the drawing board." In our opinion, the Model X might not be the most refined car today, but it has paved a path for future EVs and alike.
