Telegram just released a new version, 3.14 on the App Store and Play Store. The Instant View feature renders web pages within the application itself. At launch, posts on Medium and TechCrunch are supported, but Telegram plans to eventually support the entire internet. The Instant View feature generates the page natively, saving on time and bandwidth. Telegram also launched a new long format blogging platform, similar to Medium. On going to the Telegraph site, users are prompted for a Title, Name, and Story. There is just a publish button with few other options. Images, videos, tweets, Facebook posts and other interactive multimedia snippets can be embedded in Telegraph. The articles are meant to be shared instantly on Telegram, and content published on Telegraph renders beautifully on Instant View. There is now a Jump to Date feature within the app. From the search bar, there is a calendar that allows users to select a particular date. The chat windows will show the state of the conversations at that date. The Jump to Date feature currently only works with dates from the past. Recently used stickers now has an additional option of loading the entire sticker pack. Long pressing on any of the recently used stickers shows a menu, for send, view pack or cancel. Selecting the view pack option allows users to pick a sticker from the entire pack. Profiles of friends now lists groups in common, a feature that is available in other instant messaging clients, including Whatsapp. There are a bunch of performance improvements for Android. This is following allegations by users that Telegram works better on iOS. There are new animations and interfaces for creating groups and managing privacy settings. The notification settings has been given a facelift. The camera is made snappier to take photos and videos quicker. The video compression has been improved, and the photo viewer has reduced clutter. It is now easier to edit messages and add captions to photos. Telegram has hinted that it is secretly working on something really major. Our guess is that it is Snapchat or Flash style augmented reality overlays. If you have any ideas of what this could be, let us know in the comments section below.
