Tata Sky selects Ericsson's AVP 4000 encoder to deliver 200 additional channels

Tata Sky has selected Ericsson’s AVP 4000 compression platform to meet increasing demand for HD content. The encoding platform will allow Tata Sky to deliver an additional 150 standard definition channels, and 50 HD channels by the end of the year. The award winning platform integrates with existing legacy infrastructure to deliver superior quality encoding for IPTV, Cable, Satellite and Broadcast. “As India’s entertainment sector evolves, there is a rapid proliferation of channels and the consumer is spoilt for choice. The platform can be used to overcome constraints in the available bandwidth. The platform supports deployment of multi-screen services. The device is powered by Ericsson’s programmable video chip.
