Call of Duty has now made it to smartphones. A new game, titled Call of Duty: Strike Team, has been released for iOS devices. The game is available on the App Store for Rs 390. According to Activision, the game has been optimised for touch-screen devices thanks to its tactics-based controls.
While the game has a typical XCOM-esque top-down view and plays like any other tactical strategy game, players can switch to first-person mode at any moment and play it like a regular shooter. It is the first Call of Duty title for mobiles and has been developed by Activision’s new mobile development studio The Blast Furnace, which is helmed by Rockstar London veteran Mark Washbrook and Rockstar Leeds developer Gordon Hall.
The game lets you instantly switch between tactical and first-person mode
Call of Duty: Strike Team features both a story-driven single player campaign that’s full of cinematic moments typically associated with the Call of Duty franchise, as well as a single player Survival Mode, packed with many weapons, perks, ranks and prestige levels. It also has a leaderboard feature that lets players compete with family, friends and even complete strangers. Sadly enough, there doesn’t seem to be a multiplayer mode.
Players with an existing Call of Duty account can sign in with their credentials to Call of Duty: Strike Team for exclusive, in-game bonuses. Players can register for a Call of Duty account for free on the web.
While it is only available on iOS devices right now, the development team is working on bringing it to Android devices as well, which is slated for release later this year.
