Symbian Anna update hits Indian Symbian ^3 devices

Update: There’s good news for Nokia N8, C7, E7 and C6-01 users in India. The Symbian Anna update is now available in India for free. Users who want to get this update can do so using the Nokia OVI Suite (v3.3.1) or using the over-the-air method using Wi-Fi, GPRS, 3G or through the nearest Nokia Care Center.

The wait is finally over for Symbian^3 users. Yesterday, Nokia began to roll out the much awaited Symbian Anna, or PR 2.0 update for its previously launched Nokia N8 C7 E7 and C6-01 Symbian smartphones. The update includes changed icons, faster UI, split-screen potrait QWERTY keyboard, newer browser version (v7.3) and a few little tweaks here and there.  Apart from these changes, each device also received some special treatment. Nokia C7 users finally got NFC support, which in the previous versions was conspicious by its absence. N8 users will also get an improved camera application with CAF (Continuous Auto Focus) while recording videos.

The update is slowly rolling out in phases depending on carriers and country variants on the Nokia servers. It’s just a matter of hours now for all Symbian^3 users to get their hands on this update. With Symbian Anna, Nokia did bring some minor UI changes, but it still needs to work a lot  to keep pace with other strong OS’ like Android and iOS. Nokia is trying to get its position back with the next update named Belle, or PR 3.0, which features a totally revamped UI , Andriod-like notifications, Meego style menu etc. We hope Nokia does well in times to come and fight- it out for its place with its upcoming range of WP7 phones, as well as Meego-powered N9. The update will be available through Nokia OVI Suite as well as OTA (Over The Air).
