Steam achievements hint at more content for XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Gamers have discovered a set of new Steam achievements for tactical strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The new achievements heavily hint towards new content incoming for the alien-killing game. Sadly enough, details about the upcoming DLC haven’t been revealed, since the achievements have placeholder names that go from ACHIEVEMENT_55 up to ACHIEVEMENT_84. The list of 30 achievements can be seen on the Steam Global Gameplay Stats page for XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Developer Firaxis Games has earlier stated that it will be revealing an unannounced project at the upcoming Gamescom event in Germany. The Korean game ratings board had listings that suggested that the new project could be another title or addon for XCOM, dubbed XCOM: Enemy Within.

Here is a description of the game, according to the website for the game: “Threatened by an unknown enemy, the Earth’s governments unite to form an elite paramilitary organization, known as XCOM, to combat this extraterrestrial attack. As the commander of XCOM, you control the global defense team in a battle against a terrifying alien invasion by creating a fully operational base, researching alien technologies, planning combat missions, and controlling soldier movement in battle.”

The game is developed by turn-based strategy veterans Firaxis who have earlier been responsible for the much-praised Civilization series.
