Spotify, the digital music service, first came to the Windows Phone platform back when Windows 7 was in circulation. It did not take long for the app to jump up to Windows Phone 8, though, with the company releasing a beta version in February .
Now, Microsoft has done away with the beta tags for its Spotify app and will be releasing what it calls a “big” update for the Windows Phone 8. The news was first released on Twitter, where Joe Belfiore, Manager of Windows Phone, announced the upcoming update while speaking about new features like additional language support, offline playlist improvements as well as track scrubbing.
The current Spotify Windows Phone app does not let users fast-forward through a track, or scrub, as the term is called, which the update will be addressing. For now, Belfiore has said that users may need to wait for some time before the app is made available. Details about what else the update will bring to the app is yet to be confirmed.
Spotify beta for Windows Phone 8 gets new update with track scrubbing..
Spotify is available across all platforms and has a mobile and PC version as well. When the beta version of Spotify was released on Windows Phone 8, the app promised a music library with millions of tracks. Users could also create their own playlists and also browse through the playlists that their friends had uploaded. The app also allowed users to download playlists without an Internet connection. In addition, tracks added to any playlist could immediately be accessed from both phones and PCs.
Users can expect these features to stay on after the new update is made available. The company had earlier released the beta version of the app for free and provided the service for free for the first 30 days. After the trial expires, the premium version of the service would cost $9.99 (Rs 610 approx) per month. How the newly updated app will be priced, or if the premium service will cost more, is yet to be seen. For now, though, the service is not available in India.
