Spice and Android seem to be making quite the scene these days and the “quirky” couple is once again teaming up to bring to the budget to mid-range smartphone market the Mi 410. Due to hit shelves in June, according to TheMobileIndian.com .

The latest Spice-y Android smartphone will come sporting Android’s FroYo running on a Qualcomm 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and will feature -

  • 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen
  • 3.5G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi with hotspot support,
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • MicroSD card support

The handset will be priced at about Rs. 15,000 putting it squarely in the mid-range range segment. Although Spice does tend to incorporate quite a few extras with their devices, the big question is - will it be enough to compete? My guess is, it’s quite possible.

Spice will have to come up with something seriously significant in terms of functionality for the Mi 410 to stay in the game, but the fact that it has a 1Ghz processor and is priced in this bracket could make a huge difference. Dilip Modi, Managing Director of Spice Mobility has apparently told TheMobile.Indian.com that the reason why this handset, that was supposed to have been launched much earlier was delayed, is because Spice was keen on having it launch with FroYo and a few extra features.

We can expect the device sometime in the first week of June.
