Spice launches Stellar 526, 520 smartphones in India starting at Rs 8,999

While Spice has planned its ultra-cheap phones running  Android One and Firefox for sometime later this year, the company has now launched two new smartphones in the Stellar range. The all new Android KitKat-based Stellar 520 and Stellar 526 are priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 11,499 respectively.

The Spice Stellar 520 sports a 5-inch IPS display, but the resolution is still unclear. It comes powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. On the camera front, it gets an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The dual-SIM smartphone also comes with 4GB onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD card slot. The connectivity options include 3G support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. All of this fuelled by a 2,000mAh battery.

The company has also announced its first hexa-core smartphone in the form of the Spice Stellar 526. The hexa-core processor is clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with 1GB RAM. It sports a 5-inch HD 720p display. The list of specs for the device includes 8-megapixel rear camera, 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB onboard storage, microSD card slot and 2,500mAh battery. Just like the 520, the 526 also supports dual-SIM functionality, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Commenting at the launch, T M Ramakrishnan, CEO (devices), Spice Retail said, “We have always strived to bring devices that are not budget heavy and this certainly creates ripples in the domestic smartphone space, thus making the high end products affordable the youth aspiring big in life.”
