Developer DICE has released a video that gives us a look at the new Spectator Mode in Battlefield 4. The pre-alpha Spectator Mode of the game is showcased by DICE Producer Daniel Matros. Check out the video:

Spectator Mode allows you to just watch the action in a match unfold. This is an important feature that needs to be present in a game if it hopes to become a serious eSport title. The Spectator Mode of Battlefield 4 has many different ways to watch a match, including first-person mode, third-person mode of any player, and “free cams” that aren’t connected to any players and can be pinned at certain spots of the map.

The first-person view in Spectator Mode essentially replicates the in-game HUD so that viewers have all the information that the player has. Third-person view shows all the important player-related information on a card at the bottom of the screen, while overall match details are shown at the top. Viewers can switch between different players by hitting the Q or E buttons on the PC. Another way of changing players is by clicking on their name on the scoreboard of the match.

DICE had recently kicked off the Alpha Trial for Battlefield 4 , which is set to go on till July 1. The hardware requirements for the Alpha Trial of the game have also been revealed. As of now, the game seems to be pretty unoptimised, which is especially evident from the fact that it doesn’t support 32-bit operating systems or even Windows 8 yet.

DICE has also posted on the forums that there will only be one Alpha Trial for Battlefield 4. There won’t be any way to get into the current one either. “If you are included in the Alpha Trial, you have already received an email about it,” says the post.

Battlefield 4 was announced as one of the launch titles for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One at E3. It will also be making it to the PC. The Spectator Mode; however, has only been confirmed for the PC version of the game.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
