Sony has been making a lot of headlines with the recent additions to its smartphone line-up. Now, it has made a new addition to its Walkman line-up. The newly minted WH series comes with two headphones, the Walkman MWZ-WH505 and the NWZ-WH303. Realistically speaking, though, the WH series cannot just be called a headphone.
The company is positioning the new line-up as a 3-in-1 Walkman experience. This basically means that Sony has managed to pack in a set of speakers, an in-built digital music player as well as the traditional headphone into one unit.
The high-end NWZ-WH505 comes fitted with a 16GB music player while the WH303 gets a 4GB music player. This basically means that you can walk around with over 4000 songs without the need to plug the headphones into any other device, according to the company. And the new series comes compatible with Mac, PC or any other playback device thanks to a supplied cable.
Sony has announced a new addition to its Walkman line-up, the WH series
The highlight of the show, atleast in our books, is the xLoud tech speakers that the WH series comes with. All users need to do is take the headphones off, flip a switch and convert the same into loudspeakers that come with Virtualphones (VPT) surround sound. The new series also comes with a good battery life, according to the company. Both headphones are supposed to give 20 hours of continuous play time and hours worth of performance from a quick three minute charge.
There is no official word on how well the battery life will last on continuous speaker mode, though. The company is still to reveal the much needed details about pricing and availability. Hopefully, Sony will not make users wait too long as the new headphone series seem pretty nifty (at least on paper).
