Sony is all set to officially launch its massive Sony Xperia Z phablet in India today. The phone had been up for pre-order since last week on e-commerce websites for Rs 44,990.
The Xperia Z Ultra, announced last month, will sport a huge 6.4-inch full HD display with Triluminos technology for better visuals. Compared to the TFT LCD on the Xperia Z, the Xperia Z Ultra promises to have a better viewing experience.
Launching in India today
The phone will come with Android version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box, however, Sony has plans to upgrade the Xperia Z Ultra to Android version 4.3 Jelly Bean soon. The Xperia Z Ultra will be the first device to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC. It will also come packed with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
The Xperia Z Ultra is going to be dust and water resistant, pretty much like its cousin, the Xperia Z. It will also have a microSD card slot that will support cards up to 64GB in addition to 16GB of internal storage. The phablet will have a modest 8 megapixel back camera with geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, image stabilisation, HDR, 3D Sweep Panorama mode as well as other shooting modes. The front-facing camera will be a 2 megapixel one, capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps.
Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra will have a 3050 mAh battery that is supposed to power the phone for up to 16 hours for talk time and a standby time of 820 hours. As far as connectivity goes, the Xperia Z Ultra will feature Wi-Fi, NFC, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 as well as FM radio with RDS.
