After rolling out updates to its flagship Xperia XZ this year, Sony has now begun seeding its customised version of Android 7.0 Nougat for its Xperia X mid-ranger and even the Xperia X Compact, that did not make it to India. The update for the Xperia X brings all the goodness of Android Nougat along with some under the hood improvements to the device’s battery life.

The Xperia gets plenty of Nougat specific features, but with Sony’s customisations in place, here is a list of the important ones.

An Android Nougat-specific feature, multi-window support now lets users run two apps simultaneously and also allows users to double tap to switch between each one of them.

Thanks to Sony’s custom Stamina improvements along with Google’s Doze your Xperia X can do more for longer.

Sony has also included a revamped messaging app that let’s users share their videos and audio with a few taps via MMS.

Lastly there’s some added manual camera settings with an all-new manual focus and shutter speed controls (similar to Xperia XZ) this is finally now available for Xperia X.

Sony has advised users to wait it out till the updates arrive as a notification on their Xperia X devices. The roll out of the update takes place in a phased process so this is going to take a while till the notification arrives on your Xperia X smartphone.
