The phone comes with Android’s Gingerbread OS but Sony is hoping to push for an Ice-cream Sandwich for all NXT phones soon.

Other specifications of the phone include, 5MP camera with AF, LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a 0.3MP front camera, 8GB Internal memory and 512MB RAM.

Samsung might have ditched India for the launch of it’s Galaxy Nexus phone, but Sony is no mood to lose out on the Indian market.

The new Xperia U would be a smart choice for those with a mid-budget range, given that it’s a dual-core smartphone and is rich in other features.
