Sony will soon start rolling out the Android 4.3 jelly Bean update to select Xperia handsets, the company has revealed through its official Twitter account. The list includes Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V, as devices which will get the new update by the end of this month.
The tweet reads, "We hear you re: JB 4.3 for #Xperia T, TX, V, SP - we’re making final preps & will start rolling from end Jan / early Feb." All four are mid-range smartphones from Sony that will skip version 4.2, and upgrade from Android 4.1 to Android 4.3. While Sony rolls out Android 4.3, Google has already taken a step ahead with its latest Android version 4.4 KitKat of the OS rolling out to more of its devices. Does this possibly mean that the latest iteration of Android, v4.4 KitKat, may not come these Xperia ones?
The Android 4.3 update will bring along several tweaks to the handsets, including dialpad autocomplete and restricted profiles. Sony is also expected to start rolling out the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update to its Xperia L handsets. The updates will add camera and performance improvements along with some changes to the homescreen.
Last month, the company rolled out Android 4.3 for Sony Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z. The update brought in a host of changes, including a new Smart Social Camera app, which lets users download and access all of Sony's camera-specific apps from the viewfinder screen itself. The update also added improvements to the UI and functionality to core Sony apps, such as Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small Apps, TrackID, Sony Select and Sony's suite of media apps.
