Sony’s entry-level Xperia E1 are now available online. The a follow-up to the entry-level Xperia E, which was launched last year is available in single-SIM and dual-SIM configurations, with the former priced at Rs 9,490 and the latter at Rs 10,490. At online retailer Infibeam, though, only the dual-SIM version has shown up even though it had a later launch date of March 25. It’s priced slightly less at Rs 9,899, while the single-SIM version is not listed. On Flipkart, we spotted the single-SIM variant retailing for Rs 9,990, which is more than Sony’s price. Weighing in at 120 g, the E1 is chunky at 12 mm thickness and will be available in signature Sony colours - black, purple and white. It has a 4-inch display with WVGA resolution (800x480), which is the norm for this price point. That results in a pixel density of around 233 ppi. The Xperia E1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and boasts 512 MB RAM. The phones run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, with Sony’s custom UI. Add to that a 1700 mAh battery and Sony’s Stamina mode, and you could be looking at more than day-long battery life. The battery is rated for up to 9 hours of talk time, and 551 hours of standby time. The Xperia E1 sports a 3-megapixel rear camera, but there’s no front camera despite the presence of 3G support. So this means you cannot make video calls on the E1. The back camera is capable of shooting 720p videos though. Sony has infused the E1 with some of the best audio technology and it could be called an Android Walkman phone. The speaker is touted to deliver 100Db of sound, thanks to which Sony claims “even a motorcycle won’t interrupt your music.” You also get the ClearAudio+ technology as well as xLOUD, which are normally reserved for higher-end phones. Thanks to Sony’s Walkman technology, users get some extra features when it comes to music playback. For example, they can shake the phone to shuffle the playlist, and there’s a dedicated Walkman button for quick access to your tracks.
