Sony has just unveiled its new MP3 walkman in a sporty avatar for “active people who want music wherever they are and whatever they are doing.”
The new Sony WALKMAN NW-S200 Series Sports MP3 Player is packed with features like a durable, water-resistant body; playback options including “Music Pacer” and “Shuffle Shake” functions, FM tuner and integral sports counters, for people on the go. It has a Stylish “stick & ring” design in silver, pink or black along with a combination of integral G-sensor and sports functions, operated via a jog dial shuttle.
Via an integral gravity sensor and simple-to-use graphical user interface, real-time calorie usage, distance traveled, steps taken and running time can be monitored, eliminating the need to carry a separate pedometer or stop-watch while exercising.
The “Music Pacer” feature can be activated to automatically detect the user’s pace of step and change the music accordingly from pre-made playlists. Another feature of the product is the ability to withstand water splashes from wet hands and perspiration and can be used outdoors, even in wet or snowy weather conditions. The product comes with earphones and an armband for sports use, along with an optional metallic chain neck strap for purchase.
Sony’s speed charge feature provides eighteen hours of continuous playback after being fully charged in forty five minutes. The Sony WALKMAN NW-S200 Series Sports MP3 Player supports all major codecs including MP3, Atrac, and non-DRM WMA and AAC files. Music can also be ripped from the user’s CD collection via SonicStage or Sony Connect.
The Walkman NW-S200 series will be available throughout Europe from September 2006, but details of its arrival in the Asian market haven’t been disclosed yet.
