Sony Mobile's next Xperia launch depends entirely on how badly you want it

Sony’s new Xperia line is enjoying its fair bit of attention and love from media houses and consumers alike and now, Sony Mobile is all set to launch a new Xperia phone, albeit with a small twist. Unlike the usual method in which companies fix upon a launch date and unveil the product, Sony’s new ‘interactive unveiling’ strategy is pretty neat and also helps them boost traffic on their Facebook (FB) page. A post on Sony Mobile’s FB page shows a Willy Wonka-styled clock, along with a countdown timer below that’s ticking away. The twist here is that you have control over how soon the new product will be unveiled and by pressing the ‘Fast Forward’ button below, you speed up the time by few seconds. Since it went live, the release date has already moved ahead from its original June 22 date to June 19. So, if you and your friend do your part, it could be even sooner.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

What could it be?

What could it be?

Now for the main question, what can we expect after the clock strikes zero? Our initial feeling was it would either be the Xperia go or the acro S, but Sony has already formally introduced them, so there’s no need for all this drama. We believe there are some clues hidden in the clock itself. Notice that there are media buttons on the right side, along with a stereo above it which could mean that Sony will  be announcing a new Walkman branded Xperia handset. Remember that Live with Walkman was never a part of the Xperia range, so maybe this time we’ll be seeing one with the BRAVIA display. Whether it will be their first quad-core phone is anybody’s guess, but it doesn’t seem like Sony is too bothered not having a quad-core offering in their line-up. Whatever it is, it seems like it’s going to be a fun and youthful handset that will be available in different colours. What do you reckon it is?
