Sony introduces three new headphone models in India

Sony has launched three new headphones in the Indian market: the MDR-10RNC, the MDR-10RBT and the NWZ-WH303. While the WH303 is the company’s latest addition to the 3-in-1 headphone category, the other two are high-end Bluetooth and NFC-enabled headphone models.

The WH303 is an intriguing model that comes with three different modes of listening styles. One of the modes, the standard music player mode, allows you to listen to the music stored in your smartphone, tablet or other music devices easily while canceling the need to handle headphone cables. Sony has also integrated Cloud support with the new headphones to ensure that you can stream music from your Cloud storage as well, although the company did not reveal more details about how the interface for this support would look like. The model is designed as a headphone with an integrated music player that gives a wireless and cable-free music experience. The model also incorporates two sound enhancement features, Clear Bass and Clear Phase.

The Clear Bass feature offers solid deep-base without any distortion even when the volume is turned up. The Clear Phase mode, on the other hand, optimises acoustic properties of the headphones through digital signal processing, which gives users, according to the company, realistic sound with depth and transparent sound field orientation of voices and individual instruments.

Sony’s new 3-in-1 headphones

The second listening mode of the WH303 is speaker mode. Users can now listen to music by putting the headphones aside or around their necks and setting it to Speaker mode. This is ideal for situations like driving in heavy traffic where you would want to be able to bear ambient noises as well. The speaker mode features Xloud, which is Sony’s volume enhancing technology. Also featured is Virtual Technology (VPT) air, which makes it possible to reproduce naturally expanding sound fields with the wearable device.

The last listening mode on the list is headphone mode. With this mode on, users can get their music in high-quality. The 1030mm cable included with the new headphone can also be plugged into devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops. The company has said that around one hour of continuous playback is possible on about three minutes of charge. On full charge, the WH303 can give nearly 20 hours of continuous playback. The headphones are compatible with both Mac and Windows OS. The new headphones come with a price tag of Rs 8,990.

In addition, Sony has also rolled out the MDR-10RNC and the MDR-10RBT, both of which are, as said earlier, Bluetooth and NFC-enabled headphones. The two models also come with noise cancellation and Beat Response Control features. The 10RNC comes with Automatic AI (Artificial Intelligence) Noise Canceling function, which automatically selects the optimal noise canceling mode based on intelligent analysis of the environmental ambient noise, according to the company. This model also comes with a Digital Equaliser as well as full digital S-Master amplifier, which delivers ideal frequency response and high-quality music reproduction with full digital processing.

NFC and Bluetooth-enabled headphones from Sony

The headphone, for digital noise canceling, relies on Sony’s DNC software Engine and Dual Noise Sensor Technology. This basically amounts to high precision canceling signal being generated by digital signal processing and microphones located both inside and outside the housings. The headphones also comes with pressure-relieving cushions as well as a 1.5m connecting cord, in-line remote and  microphone cord for smartphones, as well as a plug adaptor for in-flight use. These headphones are priced at Rs 14,990, quite a hefty sum to be sure.

The last offering on the list, the 10RBT comes with NFC and Bluetooth 3.0 support. Users can easily sync this model to their Bluetooth-compatible NFC device like a smartphone by simply tapping a specified place on the headphones with the same. The model also comes with an embedded microphone for hands-free conversation if a call were to come along on the synced smartphone. The 10RBT comes with a 1.2mm connecting cord as well as a Micro-USB cable. The model is priced like the MDR-10RNC, and will set you back Rs 14,990. This model will be available from the end of the month.
