Sony Ericsson's W700i is Just a Gold W800i

I’ve heard of companies releasing the same product with an incremented model number, but this is probably a first: Sony Ericsson’s new W700i Walkman phone is nothing but the W800i with a “titanium gold” color and finish. The W700i offers the usual MP3, MPEG-4 and H.263 playback, and an FM radio. There’s no sign of the ATRAC3Plus format support that the recent NTT DoCoMo Music Porter X has incorporated. The W700i has the same large 262k color LCD display with a 176x220 resolution, a 2-megapixel digital camera with video and 4x zoom and 34mb of internal memory to store the goods in. It comes with a Memory Stick PRO Duo slot for expansion and this is probably the only bit that’s different: the W700i ships with a 256MB stick out of the box, while the W800i gives you a roomy 512MB. The price is not known yet, but since it’s got a lower capacity memory card, it might just be a little cheaper. But then again, the gold color may make them mark up the price a bit. The phone is expected to be available around end of April, in India at least. If you can’t wait for it, you can always get the W800i and spray paint it gold. sony-ericsson-w700i_t.jpg
