Sony Ericsson has tied up with Japanese telecommunications giant KDDI Corp. to launch a new walkman phone, which can play over 500 songs. Japan will see the first of these phones in June available for $180.The USP of this phone, apart from songs is that it can play music for 30 hours without recharging, which is better than any KDDI product. It is not certain when the product will be globally available, but it will sure give stiff competition to many Walkman phones already in the market. Sony’s proprietory ATRAC compression technology has been known to prolong battery life by requiring a low amount of processing power, but it was never implemented in any of the more popular Sony Ericsson Walkman phones released all over the world. This new Walkman phone which plans to have a good 30-hour battery life might include the latest ATRAC3plus technology to achieve the feat.
