You read the title right. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 users can rejoice finally! While many of you might have been waiting for a Froyo update for the X10, Sony Ericsson has gone a step ahead and announced the Gingerbread update!
No to Froyo, but yes to Gingerbread!
In their blogs, Sony Ericsson mentions that they were focusing on upgrading the Xperia X10 smartphones to Gingerbread rather than going for Froyo. They’ve also mentioned that the Xperia X10 mini, mini pro and Xperia X8 will not be getting a Gingerbread update, for now at least. Also there aren’t any chances for the Xperia X10 to get an update beyond Gingerbread.
While all that sounds great, the release is not too far away with the blog mentioning the release to be at the end of the second quarter or early of the next quarter. In simple words, expect the update to release sometime by the end of June or beginning of July. Well that really is some good news with the upgrade brining in new functionalities and more.
