Sony Ericsson has announced that their Xperia Play and Xperia Arc smartphones will be receiving Android updates very soon, which will take the version up to 2.3.3 Gingerbread. The update will bring in a few security fixes, as well as the Facebook inside Xperia social networking features.

According to recombu, Facebook inside Xperia will add quite a few handy features to Xperia Handsets. If you’re playing a music track, you can now ‘like’ it and the phone will send an update to your Facebook wall. Photos can be uploaded and downloaded at will, too. The phone’s calendar and your Facebook calendar will be synced (oh and Google account too) and your contacts and Facebook profiles will be more closely linked. These features can be turned off, either individually or otherwise, and the Facebook inside Xperia features will show up on all future Xperia handsets.
Anyway, the update is expected to hit the UK next week, and hopefully worldwide soon after.
