Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Play Gearing up for Indian Debut

We already know that we can expect to see the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on the global market real soon. But that’s not really our concern since it only matters whether or not it launches here. Flipkart.com has already listed the handset on preorder with what seems like a fair price i.e. Rs. 32,000.

The handset has been making big waves since its conception stage so naturally PSP gamers, mobile gamers and probably every Android-head out there in the country must be eagerly awaiting the launch of the Xperia Play. Well here’s some good news for those who weren’t in the loop – Sony Ericsson is hosting an event on April 07, 2011 where they plan to announce the Xperia Arc and yes, the Xperia Play as well.

Here’s a quick look at the features that two powerhouse handsets would come loaded with –

  • 4.0-inch LED backlit capacitive touchscreen with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution
  • Slide out PSP game pad controls
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi with DLNA support
  • GPS with A-GPS support + Geotagging
  • 1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU to run Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and USB 2.0
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
  • microSD card support

Xperia Arc -

  • 4.2-inch LED backlit capacitive touchscreen with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution (scratch resistant)
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi with DLNA support
  • GPS with A-GPS support + Geotagging
  • 1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU to run Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread
  • Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and USB 2.0
  • 8 megapixel camera with Face/Smile detection and 720p video reacording

Don’t ask what the official pricing is, it’s still under wraps. But you could take a cue from Flipkart, they’ve been pretty close so far. Rest assured we’ll be there at Sony Ericsson’s event Tweeting our heads off to give you live coverage of the event, so stay tuned.
