Sony Ericsson Launch New Generation of Xperia Minis

Sony Ericsson has finally unveiled the next-gen Xperia Minis, the Xperia Mini and the Xperia Mini Pro. They are ditching the X10 tag with move obviously, and the phones feature quite a few improvements over their predecessors.

The Xperia Mini Pro will be pretty much identical to the Xperia Mini, but will also boast of a QWERTY keypad. Check the rest of the specs out:

  • 3-inch capacitive touchscreen Reality Display running at 320x480, powered by the Bravia Engine
  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon CPU, Adreno 205 GPU, 512MB RAM
  • Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • HSDPA, HSUPA, 3G support
  • WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, DLNA support
  • 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, capable of 720p video recording
  • Front-facing VGA camera
  • 400mb internal memory, expandable to 32GB

Steve Walker, Head of Marketing, Sony Ericsson said, “We wanted to provide consumers even greater choice across the Xperia range, while building on the success of the original mini series. These turbo-charged smartphones now contain even more power, enhanced functionality, a larger screen and premium features unique to Sony Ericsson. They are packed full of features, making them a perfect choice for consumers looking for all the benefits of Android and Sony in a beautiful and easy to use compact form factor.”

The Xperia Mini will be available in four colours by August, while the Xperia Mini Pro has a broad release window of Q3 2011.
