At the high-profile event to unveil the Xperia Z1, Sony has taken the curtains off its newest DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 camera lens attachments for smartphones today. The lenses will be priced at Rs 12,990 and Rs 24,990 respectively.
These lenses, first introduced during the IFA this month are innovative products by Sony. These will attach themselves to your smartphones, enabling you to take better images from it. The QX100 and the QX10 lenses can be clipped on in order to turn your smartphone into a decent point-and-shoot.
The QX-10 will be priced at Rs 12,990
The QX10 comes with an 18-megapixel EXMOR CMOS sensor and an f/3.5-3.9 lens, whereas the QX100 has a 20.2-megapixel sensor, an f/1.8 aperture as well as 3.6x optical zoom. Both the QX10 and the QX100 feature built-in optical image stabilisation.
Both lenses are also supposed to be capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. they will not only save all the videos shot using the lenses to the smartphone but will also keep a copy stored in memory cards in the microSD and Memory Stick slots. Thanks to an advertisement leak we saw earlier this month, how the lenses will work was revealed too. It shattered the myth that these lenses need to be attached to your phone all the time.
The QX-100 lens will cost you Rs 24,990
Once paired with your smartphone, you can simply use the lens separately to click pictures with your phone’s display as the viewfinder. The lenses have clearly been targeted towards the smartphone owning youngsters who are heavy on sharing images. For this, Sony seems to have emphasised on easy sharing with the lens on sites like Facebook and Instagram.
The lens kit is optimised for the Xperia Z and the newly-announced Z1, but Sony says it can work with almost any smartphone. The attachable lens can connect with the paired smartphone via Bluetooth and will come with Wi-Fi and One-touch NFC support. Both variants will also be compatible with paired smartphones through the PlayMemories App. The app will allow users to export the images to organise, edit and share online.
The DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX-100 are hitting Indian store shelves today.
