Sony announces third party titles and list of developers for PlayStation 4

With the recent revelation of the headlining games for the PlayStation 4, Sony has announced a number of third party titles that will be making an appearance on the next-gen console. The company has also announced which developers will be developing for the console.

Some of the major games that will be making their way to the PlayStation 4, other than Killzone: Shadow Fall and inFamous: Second Son, include Deep Down by Capcom, Destiny by Bungie, Driveclub by Evolution Studios, Knack by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, The Witness by Jonathan Blow, an unnamed Final Fantasy game by Square Enix, an untitled sculpting game by Media Molecule and Watch Dogs by Ubisoft.

The number of publishers that the company has announced will be developing for the PlayStation 4 includes many big names, like 2K, Activision, Atlus, Bethesda, Blizzard, Capcom, CD Projekt, Criterion, Double Fine, Konami, Gearbox, Grasshopper Manufacture, Klei Entertainment, Naco Bandai, Rockstar, Sega, TechLand, Telltale Games, Warner Bros. and Zombie Studios.

Sony had shown off some of the gameplay of the next Killzone game in a video. While the 7-minute gameplay video of Killzone: Shadow Fall does look impressive by PlayStation standards, the developers don’t seem to be pushing any envelopes. It looks like a game that would run decently on any high-end PC, which was not the case with the last console generation, where the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 were ahead of the PC, and PCs had to play a game of catch up for six months to get to those levels of graphical fidelity.

inFamous was also shown off, and it seems to be taking a darker turn with the story compared to the other two games. While they were dark and gritty, this one looks like a straight out dystopian world that wouldn’t look out of place in Watchmen. As is obvious from the previous games in the series, Cole will not be returning as the main protagonist of inFamous: Second Son. It looks like this time around, we will get to explore powers based around the other primal elements – namely, fire – as opposed to Cole’s lightning powers.

Sony had announced the PlayStation 4 earlier this morning at an event in New York. The company has confirmed that an AMD-based x86 processor will be powering the console. It will have 8GB of unified high-speed memory and a “massive” hard drive. The new controller, dubbed the DualShock 4, also seems to be the same one which we saw earlier this month. It will have a touch pad that will have a share button, a headphone jack and a light bar to identify players. The light bar also works much like the Move sensor through a 3D camera.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
