Sony announces free PlayStation Plus games for July

Sony has announced the next line-up of free titles for PlayStation Plus subscribers on the official PlayStation Blog . Coming to the Instant Game Collection in July are Battlefield 3, Payday: The Heist and Saints Row: The Third on the PlayStation 3, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus and Unit 13 on the PlayStation Vita.

Battlefield 3 is a modern military-themed FPS developed by DICE. The game uses the Frostbite 2 engine to great effect, giving the ability to cause large amounts of mayhem thanks to destructible environments. It features masssive 32-player multiplayer matches. The game has a heavy focus on squad-based gameplay.

Payday: The Heist is a lot like Left 4 Dead, but without the zombies. Instead of killing zombies and trying to survive, you and your group of three friends are trying to rob various banks. You’ll blast your way through a downtown bank vault robbery, manage hostages in an armoured car hijacking, and even engage in a midnight infiltration of a top-secret, high-security facility.

Saints Row: The Third is the third game in the Saints Row series, as the name would imply. In the game, you assume leadership of the Third Street Saints and rampage through the city of Steelport as you try to overthrow rival gangs and get revenge in the process. It is an open world game with many crazy elements and weapons.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus revolves around the Dragon Ninjas who have protected the world and kept safe the most powerful weapons. But a powerful evil force is arising which will test the might of the ninjas. Players take on the role of Ryu Hayabusa as he journeys to the farthest reaches of the world to kill things. The series is known for being brutally difficult.

Unit 13 is a third-person shooter developed by the now-defunct Zipper Interactive. The game is a lot like the SOCOM franchise. Objectives in missions can be completed in any order, with some missions allowing more options for tackling it and others having special conditions, like using stealth. All of the game’s missions can be played co-operatively.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
