Snapdragon S4 shows off its thermal efficiency in a butter melt benchmark

We all know that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 is one amazing technology that besides offering faster processing speeds, offers faster Wi-Fi speeds, too. While there may be a slew of devices using the Snapdragon S4, Qualcomm wants to redirect one’s attention away from that for a while by showing off its thermal efficiency in a rather unconventional way, a butter melt benchmark!

Showing how thermal efficient it is

Showing how thermal efficient it is

We all know that smartphones or other mobile devices, for that matter get really hot after a considerable amount of usage, which can be quite annoying. This could definitely cause a lot of problems to one’s handset, such decreased battery life or even cause damage to one’s phone permanently, in a worst case scenario. Since we all know, how powerful the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 is, the brand decided to show it off in a different way - by showing how hot it gets in comparison to its rivals.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Qualcomm’s Vidyasagar Rao, demonstrates the test first by using a thermal camera to prove how cool the handset using a Snapdragon S4 SoC is in comparison to its competitors. From the thermal camera, we can see that the handset using the Snapdragon S4 is a clear winner. But, how does a lay person actually tell the difference without using such sophisticated technology as a thermal camera? Vidyasagar Rao shows this by placing the same three handsets together and adding a big chunk of butter on each of the handsets to check, which one melts the last.

During the procedure, Rao states that butter melts at 35 degree Celsius and he went on to state that the Snapdragon S4 is much more thermally efficient, as compared to the competition. One of the competitors in this butter melt benchmark heated up to 55 degree Celsius, which is really hot. From the video, we can see that the handset using the Snapdragon S4 SoC is the clear winner and Vidyasagar Rao claims, “The Snapdragon S4 is the coolest kid on the block and we mean that quite literally.”

Let us know your thoughts on the unique way to test the thermal efficiency of the Snapdragon S4 in the comments section below.
