Snapdeal launches re-commerce site to buy your used gadgets

Everyone loves to have the latest gadget. The only catch is that we tend to accumulate a bunch of old gizmos that we don’t know what to do with. Online marketplace Snapdeal is looking to address that issue. The company has now launched a new portal called ReGlobe, which will serve as a platform for users who want to sell their older devices in exchange for cash.

Users can identify the brand and make of their offering on the site and fill in details about its condition, which results in quote being made for the product from Snapdeal. If the user likes the amount being stated, they can schedule a pick-up or drop-off for the same and will get the payment in cash. According to the company, once the gadget has been physically verified by the ReGlobe technician, the customer will get paid exactly the same amount as mentioned in the online quote.

In case there is any discrepancy between the details filled online and the actual condition of the gadget, the technician in question is authorised to revise the quote. If both parties agree to the new amount being stated, the revised payment will be made on the spot. Currently, the re-commerce company deals only with old laptops, mobiles and tablets. More categories are slated to be added in the coming days. Pick-up services are currently available in Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Secunderabad and Hyderabad.

Snapdeal was last in the news in August when it reportedly raised $75 million in funding from Japan-based Softbank. While the amount seems large, the funding raised by rival Flipkart the earlier month more than doubled the amount, standing at $200 million. The latter has now offically said that it was able to raise another $160 million in another round of funding, bringing the total up to $360 million so far this year.
