Just a few days after Flipkart relaunched its mobile-site by the name ‘Flipkart Lite’, e-commerce player Snapdeal has announced its mobile web app called ‘Snap-Lite’. The new service will work across all browsers, whereas Flipkart Lite works currently for Chrome users.

Just a few days after Flipkart relaunched its mobile-site by the name ‘Flipkart Lite’, e-commerce player Snapdeal has announced its mobile web app called ‘Snap-Lite’. The new service will work across all browsers, whereas Flipkart Lite works currently for Chrome users. Snapdeal’s chief Product Officer Anand Chandrasekaran sent out the below tweet and also stated mobile browsing for Snapdeal will now be almost 85 percent faster with Snap Lite. https://twitter.com/anandc/status/664833643215392769/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw According to a report by the Times of India , Peeyush Ranjan, head of engineering at Flipkart said, “Websites push users to install the app. But only 4% of the people actually install the app. Flipkart doesn’t have a mobile website. So we wanted to give the experience of a native application on a mobile website.” Going by the footer of the new Snapdeal website, the company says, “Experience super fast Snapdeal website. Switch to Snapdeal Lite”. This news comes in matter of days after e-commerce giant and competitor Flipkart introduced ‘Flipkart Lite’ after pushing its app-only strategy. It turns out, Flipkart and Google are working together to create a new mobile optimised website that would aid smartphone users to continue shopping on the e-commerce platform without having to install an application. Moreover, users on platforms other than Android, or iOS could also transact via a mobile browser.
