Snapchat for iOS has received a huge new update that brings a revamped user interface and a faster navigation system. The update, codenamed Banquo, pushes Snapchat to version 5.0.

The app now allows you to double-tap messages to reply to your friends. You will also now be able to swipe through the app to bring up the camera, friend list and message inbox. Snapchat for iOS now also features in-app profiles that are pretty much like the public web profiles that came with the app. Not too elaborate, the in-app profile is just about enough for Snapchat users to fill in information about themselves.

It is now far easier to add your friends to Snapchat with the Banquo update. You can send snaps to your friends straight from the address book. There are a bunch of cute animations that will take you to the contact section now – a great touch, since the younger target audience of the service is sure to like this.

The camera too has found a beautiful refresh, with transparency and better visibility of what you’re shooting being key aims of the section. The riff-raff is out and more subtle icons have replaced them as your try to take pictures.

The massive update, unfortunately, is only limited to the iOS version of the app. Snapchat for Android has not received any love from the service since a while now, with the last update dating back to April 1 this year.

You can get the updated version of Snapchat for your iOS devices from the App Store to send all those hush-hush, self-destructing images to loved ones without a worry.

Intrigued by all things social, Nishtha will invariably tweet about you. When not tweeting or writing about the next viral video, you will hear her proclaiming her love to Metallica, James Hetfield, Opeth, Akerfeldt and all bands that go 'growl'. She also obsesses about ACP Pradyuman and South Park and you will always find her moving around with a book. Her focus is on all the happening stuff in the tech domain, and she won't hesitate to take a shot at some of the oddball devices that make their way to our labs. see more
