Seagate launched the Backup Plus Ultra Slim drive which will come in 1TB and 2TB capacities which the company is calling the world’s thinnest 2TB external drive. It will come in platinum and gold colours. While pricing information isn’t released yet, there are speculations that it will start from $99 (approx Rs 6,600) for the 1TB variant. The India launch date is not yet known. Measuring in at 9.6mm thin, the 2TB Backup Plus Ultra Slim drive has two 1TB platters inside. In addition to the drive, Seagate will also bundle in 200GB of Microsoft OneDrive storage free for two years. Available on the iOS as well as Android platform, Lyve lets you sync your photos across all devices. In addition to the Backup Plus Ultra Slim drive, Seagate also released the premium LaCie Porsche Design Mobile drive which come with USB Type C ports. The all aluminum Porsche drives come in 1TB/2TB/4TB capacities and will start selling at $110 onwards. It will come in 4TB/5TB/8TB capacities and just like the mobile drive, will be housed in an aluminum shell. Prices start from $210 (approx Rs 14,015). The most premium device launched by Seagate at this year’s CES was the LaCie Chrome external drive, which comes in a glossy all-aluminum reflective casing. Designed by Neil Poulton, the drive comes with USB type C port which is USB 3.1 gen 2 standard compatible, letting the theoretical speeds go up to 10Gbps.
