India-born Satya Nadella has been declared the new CEO of Microsoft and will replace Steve Ballmer. The 46-year-old Nadella is believed to take his new position immediately , allowing Ballmer to retire early. Now, the question raised is who will fill up his current position - that of Executive Vice President. According to a report by TechCrunch , Scott Guthrie will take the position for now, while maintaining his current designation of corporate vice president.

India-born Satya Nadella has been declared the new CEO of Microsoft and will replace Steve Ballmer. The 46-year-old Nadella is believed to take his new position immediately , allowing Ballmer to retire early. Now, the question raised is who will fill up his current position - that of Executive Vice President.   According to a report by TechCrunch , Scott Guthrie will take the position for now, while maintaining his current designation of corporate vice president. Nadella has been executive vice president of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group. As per Microsoft hierarchy, reportedly, corporate vice presidents are below executive vice presidents, who report to the CEO.   So, who is Scott Guthrie? A report by ZDnet highlights that the “interim” Cloud & Enterprise Executive Vice President Guthrie “moved from being the Corporate Vice President of the .Net platform in the Developer Division, to head the Azure Application Platform team in the Business Platform Division in May 2011.” Though the position is “interim”, it is likely to be made permanent soon.   The report also highlights him as someone known for wearing red polo shirts during his public Microsoft speaking appearances. He has also been a major advocate for developers and “ made a priority integrating open-source tools and technologies into the Microsoft stack.”
