You know how just when you’re taking a picture on the street with your smartphone, a car gets in the way of your perfect shot? Or you’re taking a picture of your family on a trip together and a stranger photobombs your picture? Scalado has patented a technology that will remove any unwanted objects from the pictures you take. The technology is aptly named, “Remove”. The way Remove works is it takes a series of pictures, just like you would in burst mode, analyses the pictures, and then composites the images, while removing the unwanted objects. As part of the analysing process, it highlights objects you might want to keep in the image and objects you might want to have removed. Scalado is preparing to showcase the tecnology at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from the 27th of February till the 1st of March. Watch the video below to see a demo of Scalado’s Remove.

Scalado’s previous works, include Rewind and zero shutter lag. Rewind technology allowed users to capture group shots to their liking by capturing a series of pictures in burst mode and compositing the images. The purpose behind Rewind is to appease everyone in the group shot by assuring them their best image. What that means is if someone doesn’t like how they look in one of the shots, Rewind will use their image from another shot that they like. The technology is already shipping in a number of mobile phones, according to a Scalado press release. Zero shutter lag technology, does just what it sounds like. It removes the camera phone shutter lag. It does this by sending image data directly to the camera’s display and captures the image as a modified SpeedTagged JPEG.

“Remove” unwanted objects. Like her.

The Scalado Remove application is designed for Android Gingerbread. Stay tuned for more on Remove when Scalado demos the technology at MWC, later this month.

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo.
