Say goodbye to iGoogle and other random Google products

Its spring and its time for Google to start spring-cleaning. This year too Google had announced that it will shutting down some projects and don’t be worried. You’ve probably never heard of them before.

In blogpost today, Google said, that it would shutting the following services, Google Mini, Talk Chatback, Google Video, iGoogle and their Symbian search app.

So what were all these Google products about?

Google Mini was sort of like a store, which was part of Google’s Enterprise Search offering since its introduction in 2005. The service will end from 31 July.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Google Talk Chatback is the second project which is getting the axe. It allowed websites to embed a Google Talk widget so that they could engage with their visitors.

Google Video will also be shelved and the content on it will be moved to YouTube. Google Video users have until 20 August to migrate, delete or download their content.

Finally we come to iGoogle which will come to an end on 1 November, 2013. You might have heard of iGoogle. It was launched in 2005, with the home of providing a customised home page for users. A combination of RSS reader and widget, Google says that thanks to the app revolution the time for iGoogle is over.

Google will also be ending their Symbian Search App as part of their larger mobile strategy.
