The Inquirer reports that Sapphire, one of ATI’s most trusted board partners and one of the few ‘ATI only’ card manufacturers is going to manufacture NVIDIA cards. ATI fan boys, disappointed? Well, don’t be. Sapphire will only be manufacturing cards for NVIDIA’s board partners and will not sell anything under its brand name.
This is because some of NVIDIA’s board partners like Foxconn who have recently joined NIVIDIA’s bandwagon don’t have the capacity to meet the huge numbers of units required. This is where Sapphire, a big name in the manufacturing business, steps in. They will only be manufacturing NVIDIA’s cards on a contractual basis, though a move to selling NVIDIA cards under their own brand name may be a possibility. Its business after all, isn’t it?
