Game publisher 505 Games has announced that sandbox metroidvania game Terraria has made its way to Android. The game is available on Google Play as a free trial, and the full game can be bought for $4.99, which roughly translates to Rs 316. The game has a completely re-done interface to make it more intuitive for touch-based devices.
It has been available on iOS devices for quite some time now, but the Android version does have a couple of extras. This includes an Android robot that players can find to join them for the adventure and integration with Google Play Games, including leaderboards and achievements. There is also Facebook integration so that players can share screenshots of their creations.
Terraria is an indie sandbox adventure game with an emphasis on crafting and exploration. While some similarities can be made between it and Minecraft, the former has more structure than the latter. Minecraft is more based on exploration and creation, whereas Terraria has a focus on combat. It has a structured progression system where players can craft weapons and armour with enchantments, and use them against the big boss fights.
It is worth noting that Terraria was originally built from the ground up to focus on co-op play, rather than solo play. It has a robust system where many gamers can play in the same world and explore and hunt boss monsters together. Since its original launch on PC and subsequent console versions, the game has been critically acclaimed for its simple pixel-art graphics style and deep gameplay.
