Samsung has launched Z2, the third Tizen-powered smartphone in India at Rs 4,590. Z2 is the first 4G enabled Tizen smartphone to be launched in India after Z1 and Z3. It will come pre-loaded with Jio apps among other essential apps and important features like Ultra Data saving mode, S bike mode, and the new My Money Transfer app. Dipped in gold, black and Wine red, it will be available across India exclusively on Paytm online store and other offline retail stores starting 29 August.
The Z2 sports a 4-inch WVGA screen powered by 1.5GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. On the storage front, the device will sport 8GB internal storage along with a microSD card slot with support up to 128GB. The device will further support dual micro SIM slots along with a 1500mAh battery. On the connectivity front, Z2 comes with Bluetooth v4.0, micro USB 2.0, GPS with GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4GHz, Wi-Fi Direct, in addition to Smart Switch for PC sync. The device will come with a 5MP rear camera and LED flash at f/2.2 and a VGA resolution module as the front facing camera, at f/2.4.
Manu Sharma, Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics, added that “Samsung Z2 makes 4G accessible and relevant to the unique needs of feature phone users and first-time smartphone buyers. It brings consumers a fast and affordable mobile internet experience that will democratize 4G usage in the country.”
The Jio partnership will give Samsung Z2 users a complimentary invitation to the Jio Preview Offer to unlimited data and voice services. In addition to the usual, users will also get complimentary access to My Jio, Jio on Demand, and Jio Beats with unlimited options of the latest movie, TV shows, and music. All these offers will be unlimited until the trial period across multiple languages.
On the software side, the Ultra Data Saving mode claims to save up to 40 percent on mobile data with the help of data compression and blocking apps that are not required in the background. My Money Transfer is a payment system with support for all the major banks. This system is put in place to help people make the move towards digital and cashless payments.
