Samsung Windows Phone 8 Marco and Odyssey show up with court documents

Samsung may have planned to keep its Windows 8-enabled phones under wrap but documents submitted as a part of the ongoing Samsung vs Apple trial accidently leaked out Samsung’s plans, reports Verge. The documents reveal two Windows Phone 8-based phones codenamed Marco and Odyssey. Reportedly, these phones are expected to release in the fourth quarter.

Seemingly, Samsung plans to love Windows Phone 8 as much as it loves Android. The new phones are said to feature powerful specs like Dual Core Qualcomm processors and support for LTE. Reportedly, the Odyssey comes with 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display along with an 8 megapixel rear camera. On the other hand, the Marco will come embedded with a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display and an 5-megapixel camera. Though Samsung has not commented on this yet, we can assume it to be true as the documents may have ‘accidently’ slipped through with the court documents.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

A couple of days ago there were rumours that the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia, was expected to hold a “World Event” to showcase the first two Windows Phone 8 handsets. It is also speculated that if Nokia releases its Windows Phone 8 based devices - Lumia 910 and Lumia 920 – at this point in time, it will give Nokia an edge over its competitors, and a whole month of the privilege of being the single provider of smartphones that run Windows Phone 8. There have been rumours doing the rounds that say the release date of the Windows Phone 8 devices will be in November. Whether Nokia or Samsung will bring out the first Windows 8 phone is uncertain, but the tech terrain is all geared up to welcome the new contendor and pit it against the existing Android and iOS smartphones.

What's this theory that OpenAI's Sam Altman says might be true? Is the internet dead? What's this theory that OpenAI's Sam Altman says might be true?

Take a quick look at what Windows Phone has to offer:

  • Multi-core processor support – Windows Phone was a slick OS that ran smoothly on handsets with a single processor. The latest OS now features multi-core support with Belfoire, claiming that they’re ready for whatever hardware makers dream up.
  • Bigger, sharper screens - Windows Phone 8 supports two new screen resolutions -1280x768 and 1280 x 720, making it compatible with new handsets that will feature high-definition 720p displays.
  • More flexible storage - Windows Phone 8 supports removable MicroSD cards so users can stuff their phone with extra photos, music, and whatever else is important and then easily move it all onto their PC.
  • NFC wireless sharing - In Windows Phone 8, NFC helps make sharing photos, Office docs, and contact info easier. One can achieve this by tapping their phone on another NFC-equipped device.
  • Internet Explorer 10 - The next version of Windows Phone comes with the same web browsing engine that’s headed for Window 8 PCs and tablets. Microsoft claims that IE10 is faster and more secure, with advanced anti-phishing features like SmartScreen Filter to block dangerous websites and malware.
  • Wallet - Windows Phone 8’s new digital Wallet feature does two things. It can keep debit and credit cards, coupons, boarding passes and other important info right at one’s fingertips. And when paired with a secure SIM from your carrier, users can also pay for things with a tap of your phone at compatible checkout counters.
  • Better maps and directions - Windows Phone 8 builds in Nokia Maps as part of the platform. This partnership will provide more detailed maps and turn-by-turn directions in many countries, plus the ability to store maps offline on your phone so you can work with maps without a data connection.
  • Improved apps and games – Microsoft states that basing Windows Phone 8 on the Windows core will unleash a new wave of apps and games.
