Samsung seems to have taken notice of the 64-bit processing inside Apple’s new A7 chip for the iPhone 5S and has announced that it is working on its own 64-bit chip for its next smartphone, according to a report by the Korea Times . Samsung has stated that its next major smartphones will have 64-bit processing functionality.

The Galaxy Note 3 has 3 gigs of RAM. Another gig and they’ll need 64-bit processing
This is quite hilarious for a couple of reasons, the primary one being the fact that this technology on mobiles will pad out smartphones’ specs sheets more than anything else. The second, even funnier reason is that Samsung’s operating system of choice, Android, doesn’t support 64-bit processing. This could, of course, change with the advent of Android 4.4 KitKat, but it is still a bit unlikely.
64-bit processing will only really make sense in once mobiles hit the 4GB RAM zone, which is still quite some time off. Samsung is closer to the zone than Apple, however, since the recently-unveiled Galaxy Note 3 has 3GB of RAM. In the end, however, it will still be pointless unless the OS and apps learn to use all that memory.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, sporting an improved version of the Exynos 5 Octa chip, is making its way to India on September 25. There’s no news yet on when Apple’s new iPhone 5S is coming here, but it is starting out in some countries on September 20.
Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
