Samsung launches new wearable Galaxy Gear Fit band with curved screen

Late last night, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5 smartphone along with the new Samsung Gear Fit, which is a wearable band aimed at fitness savvy users.   According to Samsung the device is the industry’s first curved, Super AMOLED wearable device.   “In response, our Gear product portfolio continues to expand with unique devices for a wide range of lifestyles, including the new Gear Fit designed to help those consumers striving to live more fit and active lives without sacrificing their own personal style or their ability to stay connected on the go,“said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics in a press release.   The Samsung Gear Fit was has a 1.84-inch curved Super AMOLED display with 432x128 screen resolution. The screen is fully touch capable. The sensors on the device are Accelerometer, Gyro, Heart Rate. In terms of connectivity it has Bluetooth 4.0 and it is IP67 Water and Dust Resistant.   The dimensions of the device are 23.4 x 57.4 x 11.95 mm and it weighs 27g. It has a standard 210mAh battery and Samsung is promising 3-4 days battery life with typical usage and 5 days of battery life with low usage.   Its features include: Pedometer, Exercise, Heart Rate, Sleep, Stopwatch and Time. Users can also connect it to the smartphones and get instant notifications from Galaxy smartphones such as incoming calls, emails, SMS, alarm, S-planner,and third party apps while on the move.   Samsung has provided changeable straps in Black, Orange and Mocha Grey as well. The Gear Fit will be available globally starting from April.
