Samsung launches 7-inch and 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 tablets in India

Samsung was expected to unveil two new Galaxy Tab 3 tablets at its Delhi event today. Right on cue, two variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 – Tab 3 211

Samsung launches 7-inch and 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 tablets in India

Samsung was expected to unveil two new Galaxy Tab 3 slates at its Delhi event today. Right on cue, two variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 – Tab 3 211 and Tab 3 311 – have been introduced in India.

Of the newly unveiled tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 sports a 7-inch WSVGA display (168 ppi). The company claims that the tablet has a one-hand grip form factor that allows users to hold it comfortably for hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and is fuelled by a 4000 mAh battery. This Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)-running tablet comes with 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded by up to 32GB more memory.

Samsung Tab 3 211

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 sports a 1.3MP rear and front camera

The tablet sports a 1.3MP rear and front camera. In addition to these, this Samsung tablet comes pre-loaded with services like My Education, My Offers, My Games, My Music and My Movies. The My Education feature gives consumers access to 2,000 e-books, 1,000 learning videos, educational content for school children and preparatory material for entrance exams to professional  courses.

My Offers makes best local offers from 350+ brands and 25,000+ merchants in India available at the click of the button. 25 edutainment Games and 20 HD games are available for the users to download on the Tab 3 Series. 

My Music application gives users access to 500,000 Bollywood and international songs, while the My Movies app allows Tab 3 users to stream trailers, videos and movies from over 2,000 selected catalogues. As an introductory offer, the company is also making available a digital wallet of up to Rs 20,000 free for Tab 3 users to access and buy paid content from the Samsung mobile application store.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 311 sports an 8-inch WXGA display (189 ppi) and comes with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It is 7.4 mm thin and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean OS). The Galaxy Tab 3 311 is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB RAM.

The Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch will be available in two variants – Galaxy Tab 3 311 has 3G (Voice and Data) capabilities, while the Galaxy Tab 3 310 is a Wi-Fi version only.

Samsung Tab 3 311 sports a 5MP rear camera

The tablet sports a 5MP rear camera and a 1.9MP front camera. In addition to that, the tablet comes with 16GB internal memory that can be expanded by up to 64GB with a microSD card. The device is fuelled by a 4450 mAh battery.

The Multi Window feature on the tablet allows users to work on two apps simultaneously by splitting the screen into two (like watching a movie and chatting at the same time). Another feature, Pop up Video, allows a small video window to be played over any part of the tab’s menu, while the Smart Stay feature follows the user’s eyes to keep the screen on as long as it is being watched. The Reading Mode technology optimises the display to deliver perfect illumination and tone for comfortable paper like readability in a variety of lighting conditions.

The S Translator feature on the tablet offers translation through voice recognition and via text on applications including email, text message and ChatON. This translation is possible both from speech-to-text and text-to-speech, ensuring that you can communicate with ease while travelling internationally. Also, with the preloaded TripAdvisor app, users can get information and make reservation of the places classified in various categories such as places, hotels, food, forum, et al. In addition to these, the tablet comes with intuitive features such as Story Album and Group Play that allow users more ways to instantly share and enjoy music, photos, documents and games with those around them.

The Samsung Tab 3 Series comes with an introductory offer of 2GB/month data free for 2 months from Vodafone, for the latter’s postpaid users.
